Just in recent history, gay marriages became legal. I think this could easily split the classroom because of different people's certain beliefs on the matter. Most students will follow what they were taught as kids. Some students will believe that anyone has the right to pursue happiness and should be able to marry whomever they would like to marry. Some students will believe that gay marriage is something that should never have been legalized because they believe that it is wrong. Another view a student could have would be they should be able to get married but a church or minister should not be punished for denying the couple use of their church house or their service because it is against their individual beliefs.
